Before Arlo was Alro, Spookaly was initially designing another character named Kody Hunter, a black cat. It changed to a tiger during the design process and the name was dropped. This was because Spookaly wanted to design a new character for a Minecraft SMP. Looking at the other characters, he noticed most were lean in body type and colorful, and to stand out among the cast decided for a dark and buff stature for his character and quickly settled on a black-furred tiger.
